A day in the life

Go Back A day in the life The arrival of our first children, around 7.00am, heralds the start of my day. An important part of ‘meeting and greeting’ parents is good communication, particularly in relation to any concerns or special requirements I need to be made aware of. This information will be brought to the attention of all staff by being recorded in our communication book. Once a child is familiar with the staff and routine of the Nursery, parents may simply choose to drop them off and leave. In respect of new babies/children, additional staff support may be allocated if necessary to ensure a smooth settling-in period.

Daily and weekly planning
An important part of our planning is the ongoing development of all children with care and consideration being given to the abilities of the individual child and how best to extend and stretch them.

Learning through play
Each room is organised and set up to include activities which will promote social and emotional development. In addition to language and communication skills, imaginative and creative skills will also be encouraged by the use of messy play and to allow children to explore new sensations and familiarise themselves with new materials. Children thrive on their work being acknowledged and praised by their parents and staff and this is shown on display boards throughout the Nursery for this purpose.
Outdoor play
This is something that the children really enjoy. Weather permitting, this takes place continually throughout the day, given the extensive nature of our outdoor facilities, I am able to engage in a number of activities; role play in the garden, adventure in the small playground, and limitless exercise in the area we fondly describe as the "tennis court".

End of the day
At the end of the day, I go home feeling tired but rewarded in the knowledge that I have been able to contribute to the happiness, growth and well-being of the children in my care.
